Fr. Tom Eichenberger, a Milwaukee native, grew up in Brookfield with his parents, two brothers, and two sisters. His parents were charter members of St. Luke parish in Brookfield, and he attended grade school there.

Fr. Tom later studied at De Sales Preparatory High School and St. Francis Seminary, where he received his B.A. cum laude and M.Div. degrees, with a concentration in New Testament Scriptures. Before his ordination, he served for three years at St. Matthew's parish in Oak Creek. Archbishop William E. Cousins ordained Fr. Tom in 1976.

After his ordination, Fr. Tom's first assignment was at Holy Assumption parish in West Allis. Other parish assignments were at St. John Vianney in Brookfield, Holy Family in Cudahy, and St. Veronica Parish on Milwaukee’s South Side. Fr. Tom was named pastor of St. Francis Borgia in 2003, one year after the completed merger of the St. Francis Borgia and Divine Word parishes of Cedarburg. His pastoral interests, in addition to preaching and presiding at Mass, include teaching youth, leading Bible study, and working with the parish staff.

Prior to coming to Cedarburg, Fr. Tom served as dean of district 15, which included the southeastern section of Milwaukee County. He now serves as dean of district 10 (Ozaukee County). As dean, he is a member of the Archdiocesan Council of Priests, a group that assists in the governance of the archdiocese.

Father Dan Janasik is a native of New Berlin, Wisconsin. His family belonged to Holy Apostles Parish, where he and his two siblings attended the parish grade school. He attended Catholic Memorial High School in Waukesha.

In 2002, Fr. Dan graduated from Marquette University with a double major in accounting and theology. After graduating, he worked for a large certified public accounting firm for two years.

In 2004, after realizing how much he missed the ministry opportunities that he had experienced at Marquette University, Fr. Dan began his studies at St. Francis de Sales Seminary in St. Francis, coupled with academic courses at Sacred Heart School of Theology in Hales Corners. Prior to his ordination, he served a parish internship at Lumen Christi Parish in Mequon.

Fr. Dan received his Master of Divinity degree in May 2009 from Sacred Heart School of Theology, and was ordained as a priest at the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist later that month. He celebrated his first Mass at Holy Apostles Parish. His first priestly assignment began in June 2009 – as Associate Pastor of St. Francis Borgia.

Weekend Associate: Fr. Alan Veik, Capuchin

After Fr. Al Veik was ordained to the priesthood in 1967, he completed a degree in counseling psychology. His first assignment was as a seminary teacher and director of formation for the Capuchins, his religious community.

In 1975, Fr. Al began ministry at the Milwaukee County Jail, providing ministry to the street poor while developing the jail chaplaincy program. During this period he ministered to the inmates individually and through religious services. Fr. Al also provided human relations training to southeastern Wisconsin deputies and officers, and participated in community education and religious services in the Archdiocese to educate on issues of criminal justice.

As a direct result of his experiences ministering among the poor alongside hundreds of volunteers, he helped found the Benedict Institute for Urban Ministry in 1985. The Institute has assisted the theology schools in the Milwaukee area – Sacred Heart School of Theology, St. Francis, and Nashota House (Episcopalian) – by interning students in the jail for the field education departments.

In 1991, Fr. Al completed a Doctor of Ministry degree in theological reflection at St. Mary of the Lake University, Mundelein, IL. He has developed methods for bringing the poor together with others to share spiritualities, and has developed skills for social analysis, theological reflection and pastoral action.

While still volunteering at the jail, Fr. Al lives at the House of Peace in Milwaukee and assists in its administration. He works with a team to run programs for the Benedict Institute for Urban Ministry. He serves as the Vicar for Religious and the Director of Chaplain Services for the Archdiocese of Milwaukee, and serves as a weekend associate here at St. Francis Borgia Parish.

Senior Priest: Fr. Michael Dineen

Fr. Mike Dineen is St. Francis Borgia’s own “priest son,” having grown up in Cedarburg. His family, including sisters Margaret (Baehler, a life-long SFB member) and Grace lived on Pioneer Rd. and went to the one-room grade school on the corner of Bonniwell and Wauwatosa Roads. His parents, Charles and Catherine, were very active in the parish. There is a stained glass window at the south church in memory of his grandfather, Michael Patrick Dineen, after whom the priest was named.

Fr. Mike attended St. Francis Seminary and was ordained a priest in 1949; his first parish was St. Clement's in Sheboygan. In 1956, Fr. Mike was assigned as the Executive Director of the National Catholic Rural Life Conference and Country Beautiful, its book-publishing division, spending 20 years there. In 1977, he completed the 1,600 hours of Clinical Pastoral Education required for certification as a hospital chaplain, a post he held for the next 20 years. Since his official retirement, Fr. Mike has continued to help at St. Nicholas Hospital in Sheboygan and here at St. Francis Borgia, as well as other parishes in the Archdiocese.

Fr. Mike celebrated his 60th anniversary Mass at St. Francis Borgia on May 31, 2009 with his family, friends and many parishioners in attendance.
