Volunteer Opportunities for Adults Catechists – The parish is always in need of good religious education teachers. For those who are interested but unsure about making such a big commitment, there are opportunities for team teaching. The only job requirements are a desire to pass on our Catholic tradition to future generations and a willingness to learn. Assistants – Each religious education classroom generally has an additional adult to share in the discussion and to help the teacher as needed. Sometimes these are adult males who are recruited to sit in on one or more classes as role models for students. Mentors - The Confirmation program has a small group format of sessions that are facilitated by adult mentors along with peer mentors. The groups meet at the mentor’s home where the Christian environment welcomes the exploration of God’s presence in the lives of the candidates and in their world. Committees - The Christian Formation committees are advisory to educational administration in the design, implementation and evaluation of the total Christian education/formation programs in the parish. The Christian Formation Committees recognize the parish community’s responsibility of promoting the education/formation aspect of the mission of the church. Christian formation is a lifelong process aimed at personal conversion and growth in faith.
