Making a Difference
As the Faith In Our Future campaign gathers momentum, ask yourself
how you will help ensure that the future educational needs of our parish
and archdiocese will be met.
One dedicated supporter is parishioner Ralph Huiras. A member of St.
Francis Borgia parish for more than 50 years, Mr. Huiras has also been an
active participant in its development. “Years ago, I got to know Fr.
Zingsheim (SFB pastor from 1940 to 1972), and we became good friends,”
Mr. Huiras remembered. “He talked to me about growing the parish, and together
we approached Bishop Stritch for approval to do that.”
Even then, Mr. Huiras
realized the importance of anticipating the future needs of Catholics
in Cedarburg, and soon a second parish – Divine Word – was established.
Mr. Huiras, who attended Catholic grade school and put his two children through
St. Francis Borgia Grade School, is a strong advocate of Catholic education.
“The Education and Activity Center is an absolute necessity,” he said.
“The grade school is located in the center of town, and its growth potential
there is limited. It needs an expansive area to keep growing.” We as
a parish have the space, and we have a plan: a facility that will meet
the educational, recreational, and lifelong faith formation needs of
a growing parish.
Julie Kluge, an SFB alumna who currently sends her three children to
SFB Grade School, also believes in the power of Catholic education. She
and her husband David feel that SFB fosters spiritual growth as well
as elementary education. “St. Francis has such a family feel; that’s
the thing I love the most,” said Julie.
The Kluges, and many parish families like them, with children attending
either SFB Grade School or Christian Formation classes, are behind the Faith
In Our Future campaign. “There’s a real need out there, and we have
to act now,” Julie said.
Her words are echoed throughout our parish. Providing for the education
of hundreds of St. Francis Borgia Grade School students, the Christian
formation of hundreds more children and young adults, and encouraging
an atmosphere of ongoing faith development and community enrichment are
at the core of this campaign. We, and generations to come, all stand
to benefit. Please help us make that a reality.
