Introduction to Theology of the Body
Learn about Pope John Paul’s Theology of the Body by joining Father Dan these Tuesday evenings during March—March 2, 9, 16, and 30 at 7:00 p.m. at the North Church. Pope John Paul spoke often and eloquently that if we are created in the image and likeness of God, body and soul, male and female, then the body itself will have an innate and holy message to teach us.

Thank You for Supporting Haiti
Dear Fr. Thomas & Members of St. Francis Borgia,
In Creole our sisters and brothers in Haiti would say “Mesi ampil” which means “thank you very much” for your generous contribution to Haitian Relief. Your donation of $13,712.18 is a gift and blessing for our sisters and brothers in Haiti whose lives were literally turned upside down by a devastating earthquake.
Your generous contribution will help the people of Haiti to address their immediate and long term needs. Please keep the people in your prayers. They have a long road ahead of them. Mothers have lost children. Children have lost families. Homes have been destroyed. Churches, orphanages and other organizations that provided on-going support to people in poverty will need to be replaced. Thank you for being a presence of solidarity and compassion to our sisters and brothers in Haiti. “Mesi ampil!

Operation Rice Bowl
As part of our faith community’s Lenten observance, we will participate in Catholic Relief Services’ Lenten program, Operation Rice Bowl. Since 1975, Operation Rice Bowl has inspired Catholics in the United States to pray, fast, learn and give as we increase our understanding of our global community. We will connect this understanding with the principles of Catholic Social teaching throughout our Lenten journey. Please be sure to take home a Rice Bowl packet and follow this simple yet powerful Lenten practice.
Lenten Fast and Abstinence Rules - No meat on Fridays in Lent
Catholics who have celebrated their 14th birthday are bound to abstain from meat on Ash Wednesday and each Friday of Lent. Catholics who have celebrated their 18th birthday, in addition to the abstaining from meat, should fast, that is, eat only one full meal on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday. Smaller quantities of food may be taken at two other meals but no food should be consumed at any other time during those two days. The obligation of fasting ceases with the celebration of one’s 59th birthday.
