A Thank You From Mr. Bob "Under the Bridge"
I would like to take a moment to THANK the members of St. Francis Borgia for your continued support of our ministry. God has blessed us with an angel named Carol, who shows up every week and provides us with your donations. We continue to see more and more of our homeless friends each week. Hygiene products and men’s and women’s underwear and socks are our biggest movers. Every week I worry if we’re going to have enough and God always seems to come through. I’m learning to let it up to Him and He hasn’t failed me yet. We have a newsletter that goes out every 10 days or so that covers our journey. Contact the Parish Office to join the mailing list or to contact Mr. Bob if you would like to ride along some Sunday. I’ll guarantee a great tour of the city. Thanks again, St. Francis Borgia. God’s blessings. —Mr. Bob

The Sacraments of First Reconciliation & First Eucharist - Preparation begins in first grade
A reminder that the sacraments of First Reconciliation and First Eucharist are usually received in the second grade. Because of the importance of these two sacraments, the amount of information that second graders must learn and per Archdiocesan policy, preparation for these sacraments must start the year prior (or sooner) to the reception of the sacraments, i.e., in the first grade! So, if you are anticipating that your child will be receiving these sacraments during the years of 2011-2012, their sacramental preparation needs to begin during their first grade year. This preparation can be done through Christian Formation classes or SFB school. Parents who are anticipating home schooling their first grader(s), need to meet with the appropriate parish staff to assure compliance with Archdiocesan policy. At SFB, please contact Chris Crom, Director of Child Ministry at 377-1070, ext. 226 or email her.

Welcome New Director of Adult and Family Ministry - Read about Ellen Vanden Eykel
My name is Ellen Vanden Eykel, and I am your new Director of Adult and Family Ministry. I come to St. Francis Borgia by way of a small, rural town in southern Minnesota called Blue Earth. I earned an undergraduate degree in Theology and Pastoral Ministry at St. Mary’s University in Winona, Minnesota before coming to Milwaukee to obtain a master’s degree in Christian Doctrine from Marquette. For the past several years I have been working in youth ministry at St. Mary’s Visitation in Elm Grove and St. Joseph in Wauwatosa. I am blessed to have the opportunity now to serve you at St. Francis Borgia. I currently reside in Whitefish Bay with my husband, Eric, a doctoral student in Marquette’s theology program and our dog, Dallas. In my free time, I am an avid runner and a frequent participant in area road races. Eric and I love being outdoors and exploring Wisconsin’s beautiful and varied landscape as well as enjoying the unique offerings of the Milwaukee area. It seems there is always something new and different to do or see.
As your Director of Adult & Family Ministry, I am your contact person for those candidates and catechumens looking to enter the Catholic Church through RCIA, for baptismal preparation, and for a variety of other adult programming. I am already so grateful with the warm welcome I have received, and I always welcome questions or input. Please do not hesitate to contact me with questions or comments at 377-1070, ext. 250 or send an e-mail. I look forward to serving you and the parish of St. Francis Borgia!
