Why should I become a Eucharistic Minister?
Here’s what some of our parish Eucharistic Ministers have to say.
. .
"I consider it an honor to be able to be a Eucharistic Minister. It takes
very little time out of my life. But that very little time is spent
in such an important way - being of service to my parish family. It's a
very rewarding experience!"
“I wanted to help the church in some way even though my personal schedule
is very hectic -- with work, kids, and my husband’s job, and
now my father who is very ill. I figured I would be in church anyway
and
I could at least help somehow.”
“I find serving the parish as a Eucharistic Minister gives me a stronger
sense of “community.” It allows me a chance to better
know other members of our merged parish.”
“I get the satisfaction of serving my God through serving His people.
I try to always seek God by knowing Him, loving Him, and serving
Him. It enriches my spiritual life by the closeness it brings me to God and
to all of his church (the people).”
“I believe it is important to volunteer and to become involved in my church.
It is especially important for me to set an example for my
children that volunteering in some way, anyway that they can, is important. A
person
can come to church every Sunday and never know the other people
they are worshiping with. Being involved has allowed me to get to know others
in the church and feel like the church is a community, not
just a place
to come to each Sunday. This is something that I can do without
it interfering in a busy schedule (I have teenagers). I am coming each week anyway,
it seems like a natural thing to do. This activity has led
me to other
volunteer activities within the church that I have enjoyed.
I love getting to know others in our church and this is just one way to do it.”
“The words -- "The Body of Christ" and "The Blood of Christ" --
are not many, but they speak to everything that we as Catholics
believe. When you minister, you are able to share those beliefs with other parishioners
in a one-on-one relationship. The sense of wonder that accompanies
the
distribution of every host or every sip from the cup is a
truly spiritual fulfillment.”
“I decided to become a Eucharistic Minister because I needed to overcome
a fear. My theory was if I wanted my daughters to be brave,
then I needed to be brave as well. What I didn't expect was the peace I felt.
I still
get nervous, but the peace of Christ takes over. I am privileged
to share a bit of Christ's peace with each person I serve.”
“I get that satisfaction of knowing that I am helping to bring the Holy
Eucharist out into the congregation. With such a large
parish, so much help is needed to help make Communion flow as smoothly as possible.
I
am happy to help, especially since I'm there anyway!”
