Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion, formerly called Eucharistic Ministers, are
lay members of the parish who assist in the distribution of Holy Communion. (Our priests, bishops
and other clergy are the “Ordinary” Ministers of Holy Communion; therefore, anyone
outside of the clergy is considered an “Extraordinary” Minister of Holy Communion.)
Some assist with Communion at Mass; Others take the Eucharist to area nursing home and care facilities
and to the homebound. To serve in this ministry, volunteers must have received the sacrament
of Confirmation.

Hospitality Ministries
Greeters welcome parishioners and visitors to Mass.
Ushers assist with seating, take up the weekly collection during Mass, and distribute
our weekly bulletin. Before Mass, they invite several parishioners to be gift bearers.
Lectors proclaim the Scriptures, primarily at our Sunday and holy day liturgies,
relating Christian teachings through the Word of God. The parish has both
adult and youth lectors.
Our Music Ministries are always looking for those who want to share their musical
talents in the celebration of the liturgy. Music ministries include the adult
choir (including high school students), cantors, a youth choir,
bell choir, musicians (organ, piano, and other instruments), and music for
the Liturgy of the Word for Children. We also have a high school “Fire Choir” with both
singers and musicians.
Servers assist the priest at Mass. All youth in our parish, grade
four and above, are invited to become Mass servers. It is a wonderful way
to encourage participation at the celebration of Mass. There
is no upper age limit for servers. They may continue into adulthood.

"Behind the Scenes” Ministries
The liturgical environment provides an inspirational setting for our eucharistic
celebrations. Those responsible for liturgical environment decorate the churches
with flowers, banners, etc.
The Sacristan and assistants do weekly light cleaning in the churches, order
sacristy supplies, and care for chalice linens (purificators) and the garments
(albs) of the servers.
