Additional Information
Those in the music ministry share their musical talents in the celebration
of the liturgy. Singing and musical accompaniment are part of this ministry
for adults, youth and children.
The choirs provide choral support for the congregation to participate in the
liturgies.
-Adult Choir - This choir sings weekly during the school
year, usually at the 9AM Mass. Rehearsals are held on Monday nights
at 7PM, at St. Francis Borgia-North. Adults and high school students
are welcome.
- Youth Choir - The youth choir includes
boys and girls in grades 2-8. This choir periodically sings at weekend
Masses and some special liturgies. Rehearsals are held Wednesdays after
school in the SFB School music room, from 3:30 to 4:45PM. A snack is
provided at the beginning of the rehearsal.
- Fire Choir – The Fire Choir is for high school students and includes
both singers and musicians. This choir often sings at the 6PM Mass.
Cantors serve at all liturgies, including weddings and funerals, assisting
the community’s
participation in the sung liturgy. All cantors must belong to the parish
adult choir
and have a strong choral background.
The bell choirs periodically provide additional accompaniment to our liturgies.
Bell choir members must have prior music experience, preferably keyboard
based. Rehearsals for the bell choir are on Monday nights at 8:30PM. Qualified
musicians beginning at the junior high level are invited to participate.
Instrumentalists accompany and enhance our liturgies. We are always in need
of qualified instrumentalists with a firm musical foundation. Besides the
traditional organ and piano, instruments used in our liturgies have included
woodwinds, brass, strings and percussion.
Volunteers assist with the music and/or singing during the Liturgy of the Word
for Children at various Sunday Masses.
For more information about the parish music ministry, contact the Director
of Music and Liturgy.
