Anointing of the Sick

In His lifetime on earth, Jesus constantly showed His love and concern for the sick. The Church continues His mission of mercy through the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick, which is meant for persons who are:

  • Seriously ill; or
  • In failing health, whether at home, in a nursing home or in a hospital; or
  • Suffering from chronic illness; or
  • Preparing for or recuperating from surgery; or
  • Undergoing serious medical treatment such as chemotherapy.

The sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick is held periodically during the year after the 5:00 p.m. Saturday evening Mass. Contact the parish office or check the calendar for the date of the next anointing.

The clergy of Ozaukee County provide quarterly anointing of the sick to residents of Ozaukee County nursing facilities (e.g., Lasata, Mequon Care, etc.).

All sacraments are for the living. Consequently, the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick is not given to those already dead. However, family members have needs at this difficult time, and this is a part of the pastor's and deacon’s ministry. Please call the parish office for assistance.
