Servers assist the priest at Mass. Assisting the priest at the altar is a wonderful
way to participate in the celebration of Mass. Our servers light candles,
join in processions, hold the sacramentary book for the priest, greet people
with the sign of peace, and give any other help that is needed.
All youth in our parish, grade four and above, are invited to become
Mass Servers. They must have received First Eucharist. There is no upper
age limit for servers. They may continue into adulthood.
- Ability to follow directions.
- Eagerness to actively participate in Mass.
- Ability to perform duties listed in the above mission.
- Willingness to find substitute if not able to serve
at scheduled Mass time.
New servers must attend one training class presented by the priest or deacon.
New servers are paired up with experienced servers during the first few scheduled
times.
The time commitment varies based on number of servers volunteering for a specific
Mass time. Usually servers are scheduled once every 4-6 weeks.
For questions about being a Mass server, contact the Mass
Server Coordinator or the parish office.
