Overview
The Scrip Gift Card program is an ongoing fundraiser that involves the exchange of money for gift cards to retailers around the area. SFB buys the Scrip gift cards at a discount and sells the cards to families at full face value. The discount (or profit) is shown on the order form. This fundraiser can benefit many areas of the parish when parishioners use Scrip not only as gifts but also to make everyday purchases like groceries and gas. This program began as a fundraiser for the school, but has been expanded to include all parishioners. Parishioners can direct where the profit goes on the order form: SFB Catholic School, SFB Annual Fund, Parish Endowment Fund, Building Appeal Fund, SFB Church operating budget, or Sister Parish in Uganda. The SFB Home & School Committee coordinates the program for the parish.

The beauty of this program is that you are not being asked to spend any additional money. You are simply trading your cash or check in for the exact amount in a gift card. It’s that simple! But to make this program successful, we need YOU! Please give it a try.

How the program works
A Michigan company, Great Lakes Scrip, purchases gift cards at a discount and that discount (or profit) is passed onto SFB when we order the cards from them.  SFB purchases the cards and sells them at face value to SFB families, earning the amount that was discounted. Each card has its own profit percentage which is shown on the order form. For example, the Piggly Wiggly gift cards discount is 4%. For every $100 Piggly Wiggly gift card that you purchase from us, $4.00 (4% x $100) is earned for SFB. And the card that is purchased for $100 can be used to buy a full $100 worth of groceries.

How to order or purchase cards
Scrip gift cards will be available for sale after all masses on Hospitality Sunday (see the Church Calendar). Also, order forms are available in the gathering area after all weekend Masses. They are also available from the school office during school hours. During the summer, the school office is open 8 a.m.-12 Noon, Monday through Thursday. Instructions are on the order form.

Please consider ordering Scrip gift cards in advance, particularly if you need large quantities of a particular card. Orders are placed each Monday (except for holiday times) are available for pick-up at SFB School by 12pm on Thursday.

Designating how the proceeds are to be used
Proceeds benefit your choice of selected parish programs. We keep track of all of your gift card purchases and total up the amount you have “earned” for the parish (we will periodically send you a letter with your YTD totals). You can choose any one of the following:

• SFB Catholic School
• SFB Annual Fund
• SFB Parish Endowment Fund
• SFB Building Fund Appeal
• SFB Church operating budget
• Sister Parish- St. Paul Parish in Mukono, Uganda

List of regularly available gift cards
The following cards are typically available for sale after masses on Hospitality Sunday or at SFB School each day of the week from 8:30-9:30 and 3:00-4:00. We say “typically” as we do run out of popular Scrip cards at times. Also shown is the percentage earned by the parish, and the denominations that are available. Note that cards can be ordered from many other businesses as well, and in some cases for other amounts. Pick up an order form in the gathering area or in the school office for a more complete listing or visit the Great Lakes Scrip website and click on ‘Retailer List’ for a full listing. If there is retailer on the website that you want to order from and they are not on the order form, please write them in at the bottom of the form with the denomination.
