Borgia's Botanicals
Saturday, August 13, 2011
St. Francis Borgia Annual
Parish Festival
at Firemen's Park in Cedarburg
The Borgia’s Botanicals plant sale will be from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. If you're in the market for some plant and flower additions to your gardens, please check us out. Everyone is welcome. We will have hundreds of perennials and houseplants to choose from and some cacti, shrubs, and trees.
PLANT DONATIONS AND VOLUNTEER ASSISTANCE
To make Borgia's Botanicals third year another success, we need your help.
Plant Preparation
- If you have houseplants to donate that can be trimmed back, please take cuttings so that they have time to get established for their new owners. They need to root in water and then be put into pots.
- Look around your yard to see if you have any overgrown perennials or plants you would like to donate. If so, please divide them and pot them up so that they become established in time for the sale. Just keep them watered until you donate them. (See below for drop-off times.)
- We can provide information about making new houseplants from old ones (propagating), or about dividing and preparing your perennials for the sale.
Are You Able to Volunteer?
We are looking for volunteers with some basic plant knowledge to work before the festival and/or the day of the festival.
Why are donating plants and volunteering so important?
- It's a great way to share your plants with others.
- By doing so, you are making a contribution to the parish.
- The buyer gets great plants, proven to grow in Wisconsin, and at great prices.
Other Tips
Houseplants sold very well last year, as did a wide variety of perennials. If you are donating plants, please:
- Try to mark them properly. Unmarked, unidentified plants don't sell as well.
- Include the plant name, flower color, and sun/shade requirements.
- Use a plastic or other tag that will hold up to watering or rain conditions.
- Put your plants in a container with drainage holes in case it rains.
If you can share any empty gallon pots, please do; we could use them before the sale.
Drop off your plants and any empty gallon pots at Firemen’s Park at the posted area south of the Expo Center (formerly, the "Cow Palace"):
- Wednesday, August 10, from 5 - 9 p.m.
- Thursday, August 11, from 9 a.m. - 9 p.m.
- Friday, August 12, from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m.
All drop-offs must be done at the dates and times above. Tax receipts will be available upon request.
