How to Help

Saturday, August 13, 2011

St. Francis Borgia Annual Parish Festival

at Firemen's Park in Cedarburg

You can help make the festival enjoyable by getting involved – doing a little or doing a lot, working with other volunteers to make the day a huge success. There’s plenty to do – before, during, and after the festival – as you’ll see on this page. Choose something that appeals to you, or let us help find just the right job for you.

Here are some of our volunteer needs:

Donations Before the Festival:

  • Plants for Borgia’s Botanicals: Save your houseplant and perennials overstock for our third annual plant sale. Just pot the plants and include a marker with the plant name and other information. We can also use gallon-size pots ahead of time. (See the Borgia’s Botanicals page.)
  • Rummage Sale Items: Set aside your no-longer-needed household goods, including furniture, for our giant rummage sale. Drop off is at the fairgrounds on designated days before the festival. Item pick-up service is also available. (See the Rummage Sale page. Note that clothing and certain other specified items cannot be accepted.)
  • Silent Auction Items: No gift is too large or too small. See the Silent Auction page for ideas. Monetary donations are also accepted.
  • Stuffed Animals: We’ll use your new or gently used stuffed animals as prizes for children’s games.

Buy and sell raffle tickets: The raffle is our largest fundraiser of the festival. Extra tickets are available at church starting July 10, and at the festival. See the Raffles page for prices and prizes.

Set-up, Staffing, and Take-Down
Hundreds of volunteers will be needed to help with set-up, take-down, and staffing the festival. Consider volunteering as a family.

  • Festival Set-up – Help is needed on Wednesday, August 10, from 6:00-8:00 p.m.
  • Silent Auction – We're looking for Silent Auction volunteers before, during, and after the event to help in the following ways:
    • Organize the donated items.
    • Prepare sign-up sheets for each item.
    • Set up the silent auction tables with items and sign-up sheets.
    • Oversee the results.
    • Follow up with winners.
  • Rummage sale chairpersons are looking for additional volunteers for:
    • Setting up on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday (August 10-12)
    • Working on Saturday August 13
  • Borgia’s Botanicals chairperson is looking for volunteers with basic plant knowledge to work:
    • Before the festival
    • Day of the festival
  • Volunteers will be needed for most other festival activities and events, such as:
    • Food Service
    • Children’s Games
  • Festival Take-Down – Volunteers needed Sunday, August 14, from 8:00-11:00 a.m.

Watch this page for additional postings as they are announced. You can sign up in the back of church after any of the weekend Masses, starting July 10. Or see the contact information below.
