Administrative Assistant-Communications

This role supports a vital part of parish life at St. Francis Borgia by creating all parish communications. Weekly tasks include creating a printed parish bulletin and a parish email update. Website updates and social media posts are also generated as needed. This role also assists in serving the parishioners and guests of the parish office, both in-person and on the phone. 

Position Responsibilities:

  • Produce the weekly printed bulletin using submitted content
  • Create and send a parish-wide weekly email newsletter
  • Update the parish website with upcoming events, news and announcements
  • Create social media posts for the parish
  • Produce an annual report showcasing the events, ministries, and parish happenings throughout the year
  • Serve as a member of the front office team by answering the phone, receiving visitors and completing general office duties

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education degree or course work in a related communications field preferred.
  • Excellent organizational skills essential to success
  • Excellent skill level in both written and verbal communications essential to success
  • Must be goal oriented; striving for accuracy, solid production level, and accomplishing responsibilities with a minimal amount of supervision and support.
  • Ability to work with the public on a daily basis, projecting a strong, positive, cheerful attitude to people coming into contact with.
  • Good multi-tasking skills to allow for working on multiple things simultaneously in a busy office environment.
  • Excellent teamwork skills are essential 
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft products; Word (word processing), Excel (spread sheet),  Google Suite and Gmail
  • Ability to become proficient with Canva and Constant Contact
  • Strong computer keyboard skills needed to maintain expected production levels
  • Ability to maintain ethics and confidentiality standards of the parish
