Christian Formation classes visit area seniors

On Feb. 13 and 20, the 4th grade Christian Formation classes visited McKinley Place Assisted Living Facility. Our activities included prayer, fellowship with the residents, a craft, reading Scripture and Bingo.

The fourth graders were very excited about this outreach project and since they were studying the 5th commandment, it was a very practical way to teach about respect for all life. The focus was on the respect and dignity of all people.

The 4th graders interacted so well and really enjoyed hearing the residents’ stories. One resident told his story about joining the Navy at age 16 and surviving torpedo attacks on three Navy vessels. Another resident talked about her time as an emergency room nurse.

The McKinley residents really love having visitors and they really love the children from our parish.

Thank you to our 4th graders and their families!
