The youth ministry program offers several retreat experiences for members of St. Francis Borgia. Parents, young adults and high school seniors are particularly invited to participate as small group leaders or chaperones. The following retreats follow an age-appropriate format. High school students MUST attend a retreat in either 9th or 10th grade as well as the overnight Confirmation retreat. Middle school retreats are optional but highly encouraged!

30 Hour Fast (March 16-17, 2018)

High Schoolers – join us as we journey through Lent, bring a light to social justice and hunger in our community and world and have a little fun!  We will be hosting a 30 Hour Fast on Friday and Saturday March 16-17, 2018.  This will be an eye-opening experience that will allow us to see poverty in a new light, sacrifice as Jesus himself did for us, and find some time for personal reflection on Lent and what Christ’s Resurrection means to us.

No need to worry – there will be plenty of different options for the fast as we know everyone’s dietary needs are different!

  • Complete Fast – Fast from food for 30 hours starting at 12 p.m. on Friday, March 16 until Saturday, March 17, at 6 p.m.
  • Partial Fast – Limit yourself to one meal a day for both Friday after 12 p.m. and Saturday before 6 p.m.
  • Snack Fast – Fast from snacking between meals on Friday and Saturday.

Water is a must and we will supply plenty of water throughout both days!

When – Friday, March 16 from 6-10 p.m. starting in the Parish Office Conference Room AND Saturday, March 17 from 8 a.m. (start time depends on service project we will be working on) ending with a soup dinner after 4:30 p.m. Mass.

Cost – $35.00

9th and 10th Graders – Participating in both days of this retreat will satisfy your retreat requirement for this year.

Permission slip is available here. For questions, or to learn more about this retreat, please contact the Associate Director of Youth Ministry.

Spiritus Retreat

This retreat is led by the dynamic, faith-filled SPIRITUS team of young adults who travel about the state to inspire and energize young Catholics to renew their life in the Church. Using praise music, challenge activities, witnesses and small and large group discussions, this retreat helps young people to find the meaning in what they know about the Catholic faith in relation to where they currently are on their faith journey. It also helps them to open themselves up more to Jesus in prayer so that they may live out their faith in their day-to-day lives. Anyone in high school is invited to attend; in particular, 9th and 10th graders will complete their retreat component by attending. Read about the Spiritus group at www.spiritusonline.org.
