Cold weather help for the homeless

The MacCanon Brown Homeless Sanctuary serves people in one of the most impoverished areas of Milwaukee. As the weather becomes colder, you can bless those they serve with your donation of urgently-needed items.

More than 300 people line up for services at the shelter on the days items are distributed. There is always need.

These are the most critically needed items at this time: thermal underwear (both tops and bottoms); hooded sweatshirts; warm, waterproof jackets (with hoods if possible); gloves; boots; blankets; sleeping bags; sheets (full, queen or king); and bath towels.

Please note: scarves, hats or wool coats are not needed at this time.

Items can be new or may be gently-used, but should be clean and functional. Please don’t share damaged/unusable items.

Additionally, there is an ongoing need for hygiene items. Urgent needs at this time are: bar soap; toothpaste; shampoo and conditioner; deodorant (both for men and women); body wash; razors; toilet tissue; dish soap; diapers (especially sizes 3-6); and baby wipes. Personal care and/or household items are needed year-round.

Please leave your donations in the Inner City Ministries collection site (on the east side of the North Church campus) and label the bag/box with “MBHS.” If sharing both clothing and toiletries, please put those in separate bags/boxes. Please do not leave your items in the gathering space.

Your kindness and generosity will make a big difference!
