Event details

  • 7:00 a.m. South Church 9:00 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. North Church

Lent is a time that brings our need for a Savior to the fore-front of our lives. Lent is a time to open the doors of our hearts a little wider and understand our Lord a little deeper, so that when Good Friday and eventually Easter comes, it is not just another day at church but an opportunity to receive the over-flowing of graces God has to offer.

While not a holy day of obligation, Catholics are called to attend Mass on Ash Wednesday (Feb. 26) and receive ashes marked on their forehead in the sign of a cross. The ashes are made from the remains of the burned palms from the previous Palm Sunday.

Ash Wednesday and Good Friday are obligatory days of fasting and abstinence for Catholics. In addition, Fridays during Lent are obligatory days of abstinence.

Ash Wednesday Masses at St. Francis Borgia will be at:

  • 7 a.m. at the South Church
  • 9 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. at the North Church.
