Mass for the Faithful Departed – esp. for those who died during COVID-19 shutdown

Our Novena of Masses, held on the second Thursday of each month, is offered with the particular intention for those holy souls who, during the COVID-19 shut down, died without receiving the sacraments or without the celebration of funeral Masses.

For us Catholics, those last celebrations of anointings and Masses of Christian burial are not insignificant actions, but rather some of the most beautifully poignant moments of our faith. They encourage us to keep close in prayer and love all those who sleep in Christ and they enkindle our hope in the Resurrection. To that end, while we continue to affirm our closeness to the family members and friends who still mourn, we gather to pray especially for the souls of the faithful departed through the offering of these Masses, that the peace of God may soon be theirs in Heaven.

Please consider joining us Thursday, Oct. 8 at 7:30 p.m. at our North Church. If you know of anyone who has lost a loved one during these long months, please invite them to join our parish for this most important evening.

Eternal rest grant unto them O Lord. And let perpetual light shine upon them. May the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.  Amen.
