Fr. Patrick will offer the St. Blaise blessing of throats on Wednesday, Feb. 3 at the morning Mass -7 a.m. at the South Church. The blessing invokes St. Blaise to protect us from every disease of the throat and every other illness, which is timely!

St. Blaise was bishop of Sebaste in Armenia in the fourth century. Before being martyred, he is said to have healed a boy who was choking. Since the eighth century, St. Blaise has been venerated as the patron of those who suffer from diseases of the throat. The blessing of St. Blaise is a sign of our faith in God’s protection and love for us and for the sick.
