Help Inner City – delivering food and/or donating toiletries

Help with food deliveries on Saturdays:

SFB has partnerships with generous area grocers and food vendors to deliver perishable foods – bread, produce, bakery and deli items – to recipients in Milwaukee. Virtually every day of the week, volunteers from SFB stop by stores to pick up the food items and make deliveries to the House of Peace, St. Ben’s, Milwaukee Rescue Mission, Repairers of the Breach and others.

Currently, there is a need for Saturday morning volunteer drivers. The rotation per volunteer generally runs once every four or five weeks. For more information or to volunteer, please contact the parish office.

Donate toiletries 24/7 at SFB:

The MacCanon Brown Homeless Sanctuary (MBHS) provides services in the Amani neighborhood of Milwaukee, especially within the 53206 ZIP code. This area is the most impoverished neighborhood in Wisconsin. The shelter is in desperate need of hygiene items for those they assist.

They are requesting small and medium-sized items, rather than large “warehouse” sizes. Hotel/motel toiletries are most welcome. Needs include: deodorant, bar soap, shampoo, toothbrushes and toothpaste, dental floss, wide-tooth combs, Vaseline, African American hair products, hand and body lotions, Band-Aids and first aid creams, foot powder, cotton swabs, disposable razors, alcohol-free mouthwash, sanitary products, adult Depends and infant/small child diapers.

Your donations should be dropped in the Inner City collection point (small shed) on the east side of the North Church campus (Covered Bridge Road side). Please don’t bring them into church! Be sure to put the items in closed bags or boxes and place them in the laundry baskets inside the shed.

Thank you for your kindness!
