Help people in need through the St. Vincent de Paul Society

The Cedarburg Conference of the St. Vincent de Paul Society is part of a worldwide organization dedicated to helping people in need in the community, regardless of religious affiliation. We depend on St. Francis Borgia parish for membership and financial support. The Society offers temporary assistance with one time or ongoing aid based on referrals from local agencies to help clients become more self-sufficient.

Four outreach programs are held during the year: Easter, Back -to-School, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. There is also a program for Lasata residents. Each year, Bundle Weekend offers parishioners the opportunity to donate goods to the Port Washington Thrift Store. Those donations are then given to clients or sold and proceeds used for client aid. Our Popcorn Sale raises funds for back-to-school supplies for area students.

Members should possess a desire to help families going through difficult times, compassion, trust in God’s guidance, and good listening skills. Meetings are on the second Tuesday of every month at 7 p.m. in the parish center. Other time spent would be as needed to visit with new or returning clients. Our own spiritual needs are also nourished at every meeting, as well as attendance at Council-wide events.

If you have questions about our Society or how you can assist, please contact the parish office to be connected with the group.
