Late summer book discussion “Falling Upward”

Summer is a great time to relax – renew – reflect. It’s also a great season for reading! There will be an opportunity to discuss the book, Falling Upward: A Spirituality for the Two Halves of Life, by Fr. Richard Rohr, OFM.

This book seeks to help readers understand the tasks of the two halves of life and to show that those who have fallen, failed, or “gone down” are the only ones who understand “up.”

Most of us tend to think of the second half of life as largely about getting old, dealing with health issues, and letting go of life. But the whole thesis of this book is exactly the opposite. What looks like falling down can largely be experienced as “falling upward.” In fact, it is not a loss, but somehow a gain – a fresh way of thinking about spirituality that grows throughout life.

Participants can join the discussions at either time and location:

  • Tuesday mornings Aug. 1 -22 from 10 -11:30 a.m. in the upper room at Fiddleheads Coffee in downtown Cedarburg; or
  • Tuesday evenings Aug. 1-22 from 6:30-8 p.m. at the Fermentorium, 7481 Hwy 60, Cedarburg

If you would like to order the book for $11 (shipping included), please contact Tracy in Adult Ministry.
