During Lent, which starts with Ash Wednesday, we observe days of fast and abstinence.
- Fasting means one regular meal and two smaller meals. Together the two smaller meals should be less than the regular meal in size. This applies to persons ages 18 – 59.
- Abstinence means no meat. This applies to all persons 14 years of age and older.
Ash Wednesday (Feb. 17) and Good Friday (Apr. 2) are days of both fast and abstinence.
All Fridays during Lent are days of abstinence.
