Masses suspended – important message from Fr. Patrick

Dear Friends in Christ,

I have to share the difficult news with you that Archbishop Listecki has decided to suspend the celebration of all public Masses effective Wednesday, Mar. 18 through Friday, Apr. 3. I will celebrate 8 a.m. Mass tomorrow (Tuesday, Mar. 17) at the South Church.

Please know that I will continue to celebrate Mass privately each day for you and for your intentions. All assigned Mass intentions will be fulfilled. I will deeply miss seeing you, offering you the gift of the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, and the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ in Holy Communion. This is, without a doubt, the hardest email I have ever had to send.

The Archbishop has asked us to keep our churches open for prayer. For this reason, we will continue Eucharistic Adoration at our South Church for 24 hours a day from Mondays at 8:30 a.m. until Fridays at 8:30 a.m. The church will be open to the public between 7 a.m. and 8 p.m., while the late night and early morning hours will be available to assigned Adorers through code access.

With the temporary suspension of Masses, I ask that you double your own efforts at prayer and fasting at this time. I also ask you to increase your own devotion to Christ through increasing your desire for the Eucharist. We now enter into the desert. Thirst with your whole heart for Jesus and long for the gift of being able to receive Him again in Holy Communion. Know of my love and continual prayers for you.
