Boy Scouts Receive Religious Awards

June 11, 2017

At the 10 a.m. Mass on Sunday, June 11, Fr. Patrick Burns blessed and presented 10 Boy Scouts with their Roman Catholic Religious Awards. The purpose of the Ad Altare Dei (or To the Altar of God) program is to help Catholic youth of the Roman Rite develop a fully Christian way of life in the faith community. The program is organized based on the seven sacraments, a primary means toward spiritual growth. While only four percent of scouts nationwide earn the Eagle Scout Award, even fewer scouts earn the Ad Altare Dei. Several scouts mentioned to Board of Review members that they especially appreciated the sessions with Fr. Tom Eichenberger on Holy Orders and also the time he spent teaching them about the sacred spaces of our church.
