Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT)

Electronic funds transfer (EFT) is fast, secure and a convenient way to give your donations directly to St. Francis Borgia Parish. With your authorization, your bank will automatically withdraw your contributions from your designated checking or savings account, or, if you prefer, your specified debit or credit card will be charged. Whether you wish to give automatically at regular intervals or as a one-time gift, you can decide how much and how often to give. To begin giving electronically on a one-time or ongoing basis, whether from your checking or saving account, or by charging to a credit or debit card, just print out and complete the simple pdficon_small Authorization Agreement.

Online Giving Through the Website

The online giving program offers you the opportunity to make contributions using a credit or debit card. This program has some exciting features. You can update your information, see your payment history, and change the amount or date that you wish to give by creating your own profile.

Frequently Asked Questions about EFT and Online Giving

Q: What is the difference between EFT and online giving?

  • Electronic funds transfer (EFT), is the authorization of regular deductions from a checking or savings account. This is done through an Authorization Agreement, which may also be used to authorize regular charges to a credit or debit card.
  • Online giving offers the opportunity to make contributions through a safe and secure link from our parish website. Donors set up a profile which then allows them to view payment history, and to change amounts or payment dates.

Q: Why should I switch to EFT or Online Giving?

  • Reduce the number of checks you write, and the paperwork that goes with it.
  • Never miss a giving opportunity because you forgot your cash or checkbook.
  • Support the important work at St. Francis Borgia even while out of town or on vacation.
  • Enjoy peace of mind, knowing we use the best e-security available.

Q: Are EFT contributions risky?
No. A contribution through electronic funds transfer (EFT) is safer than writing a check; it can’t be lost, stolen or destroyed in the mail. All EFT transactions are regulated by the Federal Reserve and are governed by strict national rules and guidelines. We further protect your safety by utilizing the latest technology in e-security. All EFT transactions are processed through Vanco Services.

Q: Are online contributions risky?
No. All contributions are processed through a safe and secure service, Vanco Services.

Q: Is there any charge to me from my bank to give electronically?
No. Electronic funds transfers carry no bank fees.

Q: How can funds be withdrawn directly from my checking or savings account?
Only with your authorization. No one can deduct money from your account automatically unless you specifically authorize it by completing the pdficon_small Authorization Agreement. The Agreement is available online and in the Gathering Area at the north church.

Q: When would this automatic contribution be taken from my account?
When you sign up to give automatically, you select the start date that you would like your contributions to begin. For parish support (stewardship), you can contribute weekly, monthly, quarterly, or make a one-time contribution. For support of specific parish ministries, you can contribute on a one-time or monthly basis. The start date, however, must be at least three days from the current date, and deductions that fall on a weekend or holiday will be taken out on the next banking day.

Q: Can I designate my giving?
Yes, with either EFT or online giving, you can give parish support (stewardship) and you can designate support of various specified parish ministries.

Q: What if I want to use online giving to automatically give my tithes weekly and to support another fund once per month?
If you want to designate more than one type of contribution online, but each at a different frequency (e.g., monthly, weekly, etc.), you must complete the online registration process for each contribution separately.

Q: What if I want to change the amount of my online contribution or how often I give?
When you register for the online giving program, you can create your own profile and password to manage your account. You will be able to view your contribution history, change the amount and/or date that you give, and update your profile information.

Q: What if I change banks or accounts?
If you are giving electronically, you will need to complete and sign an pdficon_small Authorization Agreement for any changes to your account numbers. If you are giving online, you can change any credit/debit card account numbers through the Online Donation page.

Q: What if I move or lose my job and need to cancel the automatic EFT deductions?
You can cancel at any time. Contact our parish accountant at 377-1070, ext. 237 or send an e-mail to stop the automatic deductions from coming out of your account.

Q: If I’m no longer writing checks to the church, but giving through EFT withdrawals from my checking account, how do I keep my checkbook balance straight?
Your contribution is made on a pre-established day, so you can deduct it from your check record for that day.

Q: How can I keep a record of the amount I have contributed?
Upon registering for online donations, you have the option to create your own profile which will allow you to view your contribution history. Your bank statement will also provide you with an itemized list of all automatic giving transactions. In addition, St. Francis Borgia will continue to send you quarterly and annual contribution reports that are acceptable to the IRS.

Q: How do I participate in the weekly offering if my contribution is automatically deducted from my bank account?
Giving electronically is a wonderful convenience that enables you to put away your checkbook and pen and to focus on God and the inspirational music that is provided during the offering.

Q: How do I get started?
You can sign up for automatic EFT contributions from your checking or savings account by downloading our pdficon_small Authorization Agreement and returning the information to the parish office. To make an online contribution using a credit or debit card, go to the Online Donation page.
