Updates to Catholic Comeback Plan – Archdiocese Protocols

On July 1, some of the Archdiocese protocols for the safe return to Mass were updated. This list contains many of those changes. You may find the complete list on the Archdiocese website.

Prayer and Sacraments

  • Sunday Mass attendance remains limited to 25 percent of occupancy, following the Archbishop’s Mass Directives. The wearing of face masks is strongly recommended.
  • The dispensation for attending Mass has been extended through Sunday, Aug. 2.
  • Daily Mass attendance is now increased to 25 percent of occupancy, following the Archbishop’s Mass Directives. It is the pastor’s discretion how often daily Mass is celebrated.
  • Reception of communion is recommended in the hand only.
  • Weddings, funerals and baptisms may now be celebrated with attendance limited to 25 percent of occupancy, following the Archbishop’s Mass Directives. (Funeral wakes are not allowed at this time.)
  • Visits to nursing homes and hospitals are still restricted to priests, deacons and parish directors only.
  • Eucharistic Adoration may proceed with 50 people or fewer in the church at one time. Social distancing and cleaning protocols must be followed.
  • Rosary and other communal prayers may proceed with 50 people or fewer in the church at one time. Social distancing and cleaning protocols must be followed.
