Volunteer with the Knitting Ministry

The SFB Knitting Ministry welcomes everyone who knits or crochets to join them in creating prayer shawls, chemo hats, baby afghans, lap robes and other items to be donated to those in need. Join them for fellowship and fun every Tuesday from 1-2:30 p.m. (new start time) in classroom D of the church hall. Yarn is available for your use or you can bring your own.

The baby afghans are given to SFB babies at their baptism. The prayer shawls are given to people who are sick, lonely or grieving to comfort them. Chemo hats are distributed to local cancer centers. Each item is blessed by one of our priests before it is given out. If you, or someone you know, would benefit from the blessing of a prayer shawl or other item, stop in the parish office during business hours to choose one. Recipients do not need to be parish members.

If you don’t knit or crochet, donating yarn is a great volunteer opportunity. You can be also participate in this ministry without attending the meetings by creating items at home. For more information about these opportunities or for additional questions, please contact the parish office at 377-1070.
