Children’s Christian Formation Ages 3-Kindergarten
Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (CGS) is a Montessori-based approach to the religious formation of children, rooted in sacred Scripture, liturgy, and respect for the child’s rich relationship with God.
Attention Potential Catechists, Prayer Warriors, and anyone interested in the future of the Church!
- Would you like to fall in love with God anew?
- Would you enjoy working with young children?
- Do you feel drawn to prayer for others?
Please join us for these special opportunities:
Sunday, February 13: Come and See – for potential CGS catechists
– 11:15am, North Church Hall
We are seeking to build a beautiful and solid foundation for our children, and to do this we need a small army of catechists and assistants interested in taking this life-changing training. Please join us from 11:15-12:15 p.m. in the atrium to come and see what it’s all about. Grab a donut and then join us. RSVP to Catie Weasler, Director of Child and Family Formation through email. High school students welcome!
Many catechists find in the training something they have been searching for in their own Catholic formation: The Heart of the Gospel – presented in Scripture and liturgy in a simple, beautiful, quiet and contemplative way – that helps them fall deeply in love with God and gain a new respect for and understanding of the tremendous dignity of the child.
Saturday and Sunday, April 23 and 24: Divine Mercy Prayer for the Children
– After all Masses
We are also seeking those willing to pray for the development of this beautiful approach to faith formation. Please meet in the pews near the Divine Mercy image after the Mass you attend. Join us for a Divine Mercy Chaplet. Come and storm heaven on this amazing day of Divine Mercy Sunday (and Sat.), for your children, grandchildren, and fellow little parishioners. Small things with great love are what change the world!
Sunday, May 15: Atrium (CGS) Open House
– After the 10 a.m. Mass, North Church Hall Atrium
Please join us for an open house / tour of the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd Atrium. Our catechists will be happy to share the materials, space, and the approach that allows our smallest parishioners to fall in love with Jesus and his Church. Open to all!
