Cathedral Center volunteer opportunity (Milwaukee)

Three or four nights each month St. Francis Borgia sends a group of volunteers to the Cathedral Center, a homeless shelter for women and families in Milwaukee. The volunteers bring food and friendship as they provide evening hospitality for the guests.

The group arrives at the shelter by 6:30 p.m. and the meal is served at 7 p.m. Volunteers are usually heading home no later than 8:30 p.m. Those over age 18 will need to give permission for a criminal background check to be done by the shelter. Those ages 10-18 can also volunteer, but must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. One adult for each youth, please. Carpooling is available and new volunteers are always paired with “veterans.”

If you would be interested in learning more about this opportunity and/or would like to join a group that is going to the shelter on either Tuesday, Jan. 30 or Wed., Jan. 31, please contact Julie Larrivee.
