Mass Intentions for 2018

The 2018 Mass intentions book opened on June 1. If you’d like to schedule days/times for the remembrance of your loved ones, please stop by the parish office during business hours. The Archdiocese has asked us to institute a new Mass intentions policy for 2018. SFB will offer two intentions each Sunday at the 4:30 p.m. and 10 a.m. Masses. But only one intention will be offered at the 8 a.m. and /or 6 p.m. Mass. There will also be only one intention at each weekday Mass. The requested stipend remains $10 per intention.

Due to the changes, it will be necessary to limit the number of intentions that can be requested by one person/family to a total of six for the calendar year. In fairness to all parishioners, it is asked that the six be divided among weekends and weekdays.

The tradition of offering Masses for others, particularly the dead, originates in the very early Church. When we face the death of someone, even a person who is not Catholic, to have a Mass offered for the repose of his soul and to offer our prayers can be more beneficial and comforting than any other sympathy card or bouquet of flowers.
