Our primary role as a council is to plan and carry out activities for all of
the young people in grades 6-12 of Saint Francis Borgia parish. Such activities
may include lock-ins, service activities, socials or trips. Join us for a
chance to share your opinions on what is happening for young people in our
parish community. If you hear about cool things that your friends are doing
at their parishes, this is your opportunity to have them happen here.

Jesus himself modeled service for us. As members of the Body of Christ,
and in His name, all those anticipating involvement in the parish Confirmation
preparation program will be called to service in the areas of YOUTH, FAMILY,
PARISH, and the WIDER COMMUNITY.
To enter into the parish Confirmation preparation program,
each
person is required to provide 40 hours of service in these four
areas. This service program
is
designed
for grades
7-10. As a suggested guideline, participants could provide hours of service
according to the following outline:
7th Grade – 10 hours of service to the WIDER COMMUNITY
8th Grade – 10 hours of service to the FAMILY
9th Grade – 10 hours of service to the PARISH
10th Grade –10 hours of service to the YOUTH
The Program
Outline explains the purpose of the program and lists a
range of opportunities for fulfilling these service requirements. Service Record Forms are available as follows:
2006-2007 service forms (for use until September 1, 2007)
2007-2008 service forms

The Director of Youth Ministry will from time to time post announcements that invite the youth of St. Francis
Borgia to attend a concert, sign up for a workshop, or participate in an activity that
calls them to celebrate, explore, or put into practice an important facet of their
Catholic Christian faith. On some occasions, these events will be sponsored by our
parish. At other times, there will be no formal parish sponsorship, but young people
are encouraged to investigate these opportunities, discuss them with their parents,
and consider organizing a group of friends to attend.
Silver Lake Dunes Workcamp, Shelby, Michigan
June 22 - 28, 2008
Senior High (ages 14+)
DESCRIPTION: There are some large sand dunes
in Oceana County, Michigan that are so looming that they look like
the Sahara runs right up to the cool, clear water of Lake Michigan.
And, along with the dunes, this farming community is home to some large
and looming needs. Shelby has an expanding population of migrant workers,
who have made Shelby their home, but they find it hard to stretch their
income between growing seasons. There are many workers who live as
a whole family in leaky, poorly insulated and faded mobile homes. Repairing
window seals, adding a skirt to the foundation and a fresh coat of
paint would make their homes more livable and attractive…as
well as making their family happier and more comfortable. Seniors
in aging homes have the same needs. Climb to the top of the dunes and
what you see will be astounding. Climb aboard the Silver Lake Dunes
Workcamp, and the benefit you’ll see will be eternally rewarding. For
details, see the information
sheet and registration
form. Various fundraisers will
help with some of the participants’costs.
