Chris Crom, Director of Child Ministry, leaving

Dear St. Francis Borgia children, youth, families and parishioners,

Where has the time gone? I can’t believe that this is my 11th year at St. Francis Borgia as the Director of Child Ministry. It has been my joy and my honor to celebrate our Catholic faith with you, both in happy times and sad times.

Singing and dancing, laughing and getting to know the children who participate in and our youth who volunteer for Vacation Bible School (VBS) has been a yearly reminder for me of the deep faith connection our children and youth have with God and our parish. My actual first “job” in ministry was a VBS volunteer. I loved VBS back then and I love it now. I encourage you to volunteer for VBS. I promise…you’ll like it!

In addition to VBS, sacramental preparation, First Reconciliation, First Communions, our child-parent sessions and so many other “God sightings” (seeing God present in our every-day faith life) have been continued blessings for me.

However, many of you know that I am a Registered Nurse and that my graduate studies and certification have been in lay ministry. Recently I have come across an opportunity that will allow me to meld both my nursing and lay ministry skills into one position and I know that God is calling me to this opportunity. So I have resigned my position at St. Francis Borgia as the Director of Child Ministry. My last “official” work day will be today Sunday, May 19. And…my last “official assignment” will be assisting with our parish May Crowning – such a perfect sendoff!

Please pray for me as I make this transition. I will be praying for all of you. And…if you see me around Grafton and Cedarburg, don’t forget to say hi! God’s blessings to all of you!
