- Read the Christmas story in the Bible.
- Make and decorate a birthday cake for Jesus.
- Spend time playing with the family nativity scene and acting out the story.
- Cut your lunch sandwiches into the shape of stars and talk about the original Christmas star.
- Write a letter to Jesus, thanking him for the gifts you received throughout the year.
- Attend Christmas Eve Mass.
- Make a manger with twigs you collect from outside and talk about Baby Jesus and the type of place he was born into.
- Make paper crowns and talk about the wise men and the gifts they brought Jesus.
- Visit a local farm and talk about what it must have been like for Mary and Joseph to have a baby in a stable.
- Visit a “live” nativity scene. Two local options include:
- Friday, Dec. 8 from 6:30 p.m. to 7:20 p.m. at Advent Lutheran Church). The SFB Youth Choir will perform at the outdoor creche, among the shepherds and farm animals, to greet Mary, Joseph, and the Christ Child.
- Sunday, Dec. 17 from 2-4 p.m. at Holy Hill. There will be live animals, caroling, recitations of the “Infancy Narratives” from Holy Scripture, hot chocolate, cider, and even a visit from St. Nick!
