Little Mermaid Jr. production: collaboration and celebration

Saint Francis Borgia School presented The Little Mermaid, Jr. to three sold-out audiences on October 26, 27, 28 and performed it for their fellow classmates on October 29. A total of 84 children participated in the show, ranging from grades 3-8. That included 64 actors and 20 stage crew members.

The adventure under the sea actually began some six months prior, in April, with a week-long camp that helped students to prepare to audition for the show. Art and theatre camp were held during the summer. Eight hundred hours of work went into the beautiful costumes, and students were taught how to do stage make-up. In September, the cast and crew met Sundays and Fridays to practice, make scenery, and put the show together. It was a wonderful collaboration and celebration of the arts at our school. Thanks to all who were involved, and to all who came to see the show.
