On Sunday, June 22, the Cedarburg/Grafton Knights of Columbus sponsored a “Silver Rose” prayer service for the unborn. Auxiliary Bishop Donald Hying presided at this pro-life gathering at the historic St. Francis Borgia south church. The Silver Rose carried in the prayer service was one of six traveling through Canada and the United States to Mexico, in honor of our Lady of Guadalupe. Erik Stanton, our Knights of Columbus Chancellor, presented the Silver Rose in the processional. His son, Ladd Stanton was the youth runner. The Silver Rose program began in 1960 and was expanded in 2001 by Supreme Knight Carl Anderson, who said, “Through it we honor not only Our Lady of Guadalupe … but we also reaffirm the Order’s dedication to the sanctity of human life.… As we think in terms of ‘One Life, One Rose,’ it is most appropriate that we turn to Our Lady of Guadalupe who made known her will through Juan Diego and the miracle of the roses.”
