We have just experienced a great Parish Mission – now what? Although I wrote about this last week, following Jesus
is ongoing, it has been for millennia. What’s next in our walk with Jesus is always a looking forward to answering to the ultimate why in life.
I am going to attempt to answer this with maybe my favorite paragraph in the Catechism #27, right in the beginning: The desire for God is written in the human heart, because man is created by God and for God; and God never ceases to draw man to himself. Only in God will he find the truth and happiness he never stops searching for: The dignity of man rests above all on the fact that he is called to communion with God. This invitation to converse with God is addressed to man as soon as he comes into being. For if man exists it is because God has created him through love, and through love continues to hold him in existence. He cannot live fully according to truth unless he freely acknowledges that love and entrusts himself to his creator.
The truth is God never ceases to draw us to himself and we are made for loving communion. Let that sink in…
We have just had a powerful Parish Mission. How is God calling you to a deeper relationship and friendship with Him? How is Jesus showing you His love? How will you respond to your deepest desire for love in Christ?
The answers will call us to pray, grow in grace in the Sacramental life, and ponder God’s amazing plan like Mary.
